Now, I know some white and Hispanic people who have been around black people and try to “act” black by saying “nigga” or trying to rap and what not, just to TRY to fit in. But lets be REAL, they’re not black they’re white or Latino, and white people are usually skateboarding, right? And Hispanics are usually eating beans and tortillas? Am I right?
Ee’da’s video shows us the cold hard truth on how people think. Society makes us wanna change into something that we really aren’t. The question I always ask myself is “Do we really ever find ourselves if we are constantly trying to change our appearances whether its physical, mental or emotional? Do we really know who we are?”
In my opinion no ones ever happy because we always want to conform to society and the ever evolving world with technology, trends, fads, fashion, social groups, etc. No one’s ever satisfied with one another because in reality nobody’s perfect. So if nobody’s perfect, then that makes all of us a somebody, right?
we did a reaction paper on this video in class and it made me realize that you don't have to try you to fit in and be something your not, try to fit in by being yourself.
ReplyDeleteI like when ask the audience do we really know who we are? Because most people dont even know who there are i believe because there "lost" by religion, culture, and race.
ReplyDeleteGreat topic. I think most people can relate to this.
ReplyDeleteI love the video you posted. It has a poetic theme to it which helps the audience comprehend and relate.
ReplyDeleteHello, I agreed with you. We all are trying to fit in some sort of way in society. In the video that you posted, it shows a perfected example on how society has shaped people around the world. How has this impacted you? Do you really care about what society thinks about you? Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHey, You make a very interesting point about how people try to fit in and they think acting like another race will make them fit in. I believe people should just be who they are and not put up a fake act. People will accept you if your yourself. I also liked the video that you posted it helped back up your assertion.
ReplyDeleteHello. The video you chose impacted me. It was a very complete video where most of us could identify our self in a way. Especially when it comes about to try to be something that we are not. We should learn have to be happy with the wonderful way that we are.
ReplyDeleteI need more clarity when you say, '''they're not black they’re white or Latino, and white people are usually skateboarding, right? And Hispanics are usually eating beans and tortillas.'' What do you mean by WHITE people usually are skateboarding and Latinos eating beans and tortillas? Is this real? Because I come from Europe and until now I have not seen any white person like you called them skateboarding or a Latino eating beans and tortillas. On the other hand, I have seen WHITE people studying hard, Latinos working harder at school because of the language. Making a huge effort to learn more and BLACK people trying just the same thing.
Are you ideas related to your own personal life? Are you a black person? Do you usually called people by their color or ethnicity?
Hi, the video you have posted with the article couldn't have fit in any better. I like the example of comparing humans to chameleons because we really do adapt to our surroundings. It's natural. The idea is missing a discussion about different skin tones. The entry made me question if I adapt to my surroundings and after thinking about it, I absolutely do. I think you should consider taking out the part when you said "White people are usually skateboarding, right? And Hispanics are usually eating beans and tortillas? Am I right?". What if you changed the way you wrote that a little bit? That might help the article become less discriminating to Whites and Latinos.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your idea about how society makes people wanna be something they're not. More than often, the media portrays light skinned, skinny, and flawless people who aren't realistic at all. The video you provided is a perfect example of this and I admire Ee'da for her pride in her natural look. This blog post made me realize that society's standards of how people should look, act, and dress is all wrong. No one should have to change who they are in order to be accepted. Do you think your ideas are related to colonial mentality?
